Book Club Discussion

This is a long over due posting.

During our recent weeklong family trip to Tennessee we pulled together nine kids who had read my book and made comments on it.

They ranged in age from 10 to 16, come from Wisconsin, Louisiana, North Carolina and Florida, and had lots to say!

I was expecting an hour long conversation at best and was hopeful for marked up manuscripts that might be helpful in the long run. I got way more than I'd hoped for.

We spent over 2 1/2 hours going over characters, setting, phrasing of words, whether the language was too clean and needed more cuss words to give it legitimacy or leave it clean and know that it will be trending more towards Middle Grade and away from Young Adult.

It was hugely fun! The enthusiasm I got back out of this meeting was worth every bit of work I've put into this book, so far.

I'm now chin deep in the edits they've given me, as well as edits I've received from one of my adult editors.

Writing a book is no easy venture. I have more respect for the work now, than I ever did before.
